Admission Procedure

MCA PROGRAMME(Lateral & Regular)
Master of Computer Applications programme is a two-year(Lateral) and three-year(Regular) courses and is spread over a period of four & six semesters and which enables the candidates to get familiar with the usage of computer using at-least five latest programming languages and a large number of applications. The course also develops the student's capabilities in preparation of system software.

The students undergo mid-term projects in industrial organizations. The placement cell helps the students in finding suitable placements. The course content is updated every year and includes State-of-art evolving subject areas such as web services.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION

Should have passed recognized bachelors degree(B.C.A, B.Sc(CS) & B.Sc(IT)) of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects.

3 year M.C.A. Programme(Regular)


Should have passed any recognized bachelors degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics or Statistics at 10+2 school level (or) should have passed any recognized bachelors degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects.

Candidates who will be completing their U.G. degree programme during April / May 2014 examinations are also eligible to apply for admission. However, their selection will be considered only if they successfully complete the degree programme and satisfy the above eligibility conditions at the time of admission. Candidates who do not fulfill the eligibility conditions on the day of admission will not be considered for admission.

The candidates should have completed 10+2+3 years of study before being admitted to the MCA course.

HOW TO APPLY

Candidates desirous of obtaining admission to MCA course offered at KGiSL-IIM should apply for it in the prescribed application form available from the Director, KGiSL Institute of Information Management, KG Campus, Saravanampatti, Coimbatore - 641 035 payment of Rs. 300/- to be remitted by a demand draft of a Nationalised bank, drawn in favour of KGiSL-IIM, payable at Coimbatore.

The Application form, along with the prospectus, shall be completed in all respects and submitted to the Director, KGiSL Institute of Information Management on or before the last date furnished in the application form.

Candidates seeking Admission to MCA are required to appear for Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test to be held May 2014 (TANCET) for 2014-2015 conducted by Anna University, Chennai ) and Consortium of Self-Financing Professional Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu to be held on August 2014(CET).

The envelope containing the completed application along with enclosures should be superscripted as ''APPLICATION FOR MCA PROGRAMME". Attested photocopies of the following certificates should accompany the application:

  1. Community Certificate
  2. SSLC and HSC certificates
  3. Mark / Grade Certificates
  4. Provisional / Degree Certificate (If already qualified for Degree)
  5. Certificates of extra-curricular activities, if any.
  6. Mark certificate of Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET)
Note:

Incomplete or late applications will not be entertained.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Selection will be solely on the basis of merit and in accordance with the rules of communal reservation of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The candidates will be selected for admission to the course only based on the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) and Consortium of Self-Financing Professional Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu(CET). The candidates selected for admission will be intimated individually and the list of such candidates will be put up in KGiSL-IIM Notice Board, and in KGiSL-IIM dynamic web site www.kgisliim.ac.in. No enquiries with regard to their selection will be entertained.

All candidates selected for admission to MCA Programme shall be asked to get admitted and surrender their original Transfer Certificate, Conduct Certificate, Mark Sheets (SSLC, HSC and Degree), Provisional / Degree Certificate and remit the prescribed fees on the dates indicated in the admission letter. Request for extension of time will not be granted, whatever the reason may be. The certificates once surrendered will not be returned till the student completes or leaves the course. Hence they are advised to retain with them adequate number of attested photocopies of the certificates for future use.
